PATTAYA, Thailand — Huai Yai police launched a major pre-dawn operation on August 16, putting a large force into the field to target illegal firearms, drugs and other criminal activity across the area.

The operation began at 5:30 a.m. outside Huai Yai Police Station, where officers were briefed before moving into designated target areas. Led by Pol. Col. Warawut Nitayawan, Chief of Huai Yai Police Station, the operation brought together officers from Huai Yai Police, Chonburi Provincial Police, Provincial Police Region 2 and the Burapha 491 task force.

The coordinated searches focused particularly on illegal firearms and narcotics, along with other items linked to criminal activity. The operation forms part of intensified security measures being carried out under government policy to prevent and suppress crime and improve safety for residents in Huai Yai. Police said the stronger field presence is intended not only to seize illegal weapons and drugs but also to deter criminal activity and reassure residents that authorities are actively monitoring the area.

Officers will continue searches and investigations, with any offenders found during the operation facing legal action. The latest operation follows growing efforts by Huai Yai police and Chonburi authorities to take a tougher approach to crime, with coordinated patrols, searches and community engagement forming part of a broader push to make the area safer.

Huai Yai police officers prepare to move out before dawn, with commanders making clear that the campaign against guns and drugs will continue.
