A massive python was discovered dead in Pattaya after reportedly attempting to swallow a cat whole, leaving its swollen body as a grim reminder of the risks wildlife can pose in urban areas.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya Disaster Prevention authorities received reports from local residents of a large python curled up in a grassy roadside hollow in Soi Naklua 14 (Soi Nori), at around 7:00 p.m. on October 16.

Upon arrival, officials found numerous villagers observing the scene and pointing out the snake’s location. The python, approximately three meters long, was visibly bloated in the midsection, suggesting it had recently swallowed a large cat. Authorities approached carefully and were able to capture the python without resistance. Shortly after, the snake was found dead, likely due to attempting to ingest a prey too large for its body, leaving it unable to move and ultimately causing its demise.

Local resident Arthittharn Fuangcharoen, 44, said the python had been frequently spotted over the past one to two months. Many local cats had mysteriously gone missing during this time, leading residents to suspect the snake was responsible. The capture and subsequent death of the python finally ended its reign of terror in the area.
