Frigate Squadron 1 awards 81 scholarships to navy families


Royal Thai Navy Frigate Squadron 1 handed out nearly 200,000 baht in scholarships to children from its sailors’ families.

Rear Admiral Kosit Jiemsupakit presided over the Jan. 18 ceremony at squadron headquarters in Sattahip.

Funds for the scholarships were donated by PTT (Public) Co. for 20 outstanding students and 61 others with financial need. In all, 182,000 baht in the 3,000-baht stipends were distributed.

Kosit said that Frigate Squadron 1 understands the importance of education and organized the grants to cut expenses for military parents. The money can be used to purchase books and other materials for school.
