PHUKET, Thailand – A Phuket medical radiographer has found a creative way to cheer on 16-year-old Thai rock guitarist Nene Royal, shaving her portrait, a guitar and her name into his hair ahead of her upcoming appearance in the America’s Got Talent (AGT) final.
Maitree Jittinant, known as “Num Might,” a medical radiographer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, spent about four hours having the elaborate design shaved into his hair.
The design features the face of Nene Royal, whose real name is Praew Rattikarn Amloy, along with a guitar and the words “NENE” and “AGT.”
Nene, a Phuket-born guitarist and singer, has captured attention in Thailand and abroad with her rock performances. The 16-year-old advanced to the AGT final after receiving a Golden Buzzer during the Quarterfinals 2 round. The final is scheduled for September 22.
Maitree said he wanted his hairstyle to send a message of encouragement to Nene and show his support for her dream of winning the AGT title.
“I have followed and cheered for Nene throughout her journey and believe she can make her dream come true,” he said.
He added that the support from both Thai and international fans should give the young performer confidence as she faces the final stage of the competition.
Maitree is known for creating elaborate hair designs for special occasions and campaigns. He recently created a design marking Mother’s Day and decided to use his next opportunity to show his support for Nene.
After his hair grew long enough for another design, he discussed the idea with his regular barber in Bangkok. They spent three to five days working on the concept, aiming to incorporate Nene’s face, a guitar and the AGT lettering into the design. The actual hair artwork took about four hours to complete.
Maitree said he was pleased with the result despite having to sit for several hours while the intricate design was shaved into his hair. He said his gesture was meant to show that everyone can support Nene in their own way. “What everyone wants to tell her is to keep fighting and win the championship she dreams of,” he said.
