PATTAYA, Thailand – The Pattaya branch of the Chonburi Provincial Rights Protection and Legal Assistance Office is helping the family of a 17-year-old girl, known as Cake, seek compensation through the criminal court following her murder. The teenager’s body was found stuffed inside a suitcase and dumped in scrubland beside a railway track in Pattaya. She had reportedly disappeared after entering a Jomtien condominium on June 25, 2026. The defendant in the case is Australian national Simon Peter Carmen.
Jirat Sereekul, provincial rights protection prosecutor, and Putthaporn Sritairat worked with the Kalasin Provincial Rights Protection and Legal Assistance Office and the Chonburi Provincial Justice Office to prepare a claim for compensation under Section 44/1 of Thailand’s Criminal Procedure Code. The claim relates to Pattaya Provincial Court criminal case No. T.61/2569, in which the Pattaya provincial prosecutor is bringing the case against Carmen.
The victim’s father, Thongchai Dokkhamla, approached officials for assistance with the compensation claim. Prosecutors explained the family’s legal rights, the relevant laws and the steps involved in seeking compensation, while answering questions about the proceedings.
The Pattaya office also coordinated with the Chonburi Provincial Justice Office to provide information on applying for state compensation available to victims of crime and their families.
Officials arranged a van and staff to accompany the family from the Pattaya Provincial Prosecutor’s Office to Pattaya Provincial Court to submit the compensation petition. The assistance is intended to help the family exercise its legal rights and access the compensation and support available through Thailand’s justice system.
