MUKDAHAN, Thailand – A pickup truck carrying 279 rosewood logs was found overturned beside the Chayangkun 212 road in Mukdahan on September 29, with the driver nowhere to be found. Police from Mueang Mukdahan Police Station were alerted at about 7:50pm to the crash near Ban Khong Samran on the Ubon Ratchathani–Mukdahan route in Kham Ahuan subdistrict.
Officers found a grey Isuzu enclosed pickup truck, registration Bor Tor 6541 Mukdahan, overturned beside the road. Inside were large quantities of processed and unprocessed timber, but no driver or person claiming ownership of the vehicle was found at the scene.
Forestry officials from the Mukdahan Forest Protection Unit inspected the timber and identified it as rosewood. They found no official marks stamped on the cut ends and no documents or permits authorizing the transport. Police and forestry officials seized the pickup and all timber as evidence. The timber was later taken to Mukdahan Forest Protection Unit 4 for counting, where officials recorded a total of 279 rosewood logs.
The seized vehicle and timber were handed to investigators at Mueang Mukdahan Police Station. Authorities are continuing to trace the person who owned or possessed the vehicle and timber, as well as anyone else involved, for further legal action.
