Chonburi police announced an unspecified number of arrests of youths racing illegally to impress their paramours on what is considered the Valentine’s Day of the Thai calendar Nov. 3.
Banglamung police were out in force in the Pattaya area, manning checkpoints to check for modified bikes, as well as weapons and drugs. Specific effort was made to target the “vaen” gangs, which annoy the public.
Chonburi police hosted a video conference with provincial stations in which orders were set out to tighten security. Public announcements also were made for teenagers not to congregate in big groups and for parents to warn their children against racing on Loy Krathong.
