Cops, army raid 25 spots for guns

Police and soldiers seized more than a dozen illegal weapons in raids of 25 locations in Chonburi.

Pattaya Tourist Division police joined 100-plus officers from the Patrol and Special Operations Division and Special Weapons and Tactics as well as army soldiers in the March 10 sweep.

Authorities recovered 13 guns, 300 bullets and 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Police said the “Taking Guns from Bad Guys” operation was an alliance with the military and local police departments to seize weapons advertised on Facebook and other internet websites by individuals and gangs.

Over the past four months, the operation has recovered more than 500 guns, 30,000 bullets, drugs and other weapons, police said.

“Taking Gus from Bad Guys” is being carried out regularly in popular tourist destinations such as Phuket, Pattaya and Chiang Mai.
