Rescue workers locate and bring the lifeless body of Noppaked Tamarit to shore.

A 14-year-old drowned when five classmates dived into a Sriracha canal after school.
Sawang Pratheep Sriracha Foundation divers pulled the lifeless body of Noppaked Tamarit, 14, from the 3 meter deep Huay Sukreep Reservoir in Bang Phra Aug. 14.

It took them about 20 minutes to find the boy after nearby residents called authorities after seeing four kids try to save two drowning friends.

The group of students from Bang Sri Maharacha Municipal School had planned to go to the mall, but made a last-minute change of plans to go swimming. Apparently two couldn’t swim.

Both Noppaked and an unidentified girl got in trouble. Their friends tried to pull them to safety, but the shore was slippery and they could only save one teen.

People watch from shore as rescue divers search for the body of the drowned 14-year-old school-boy.
