CHONBURI, Thailand – Police in Phanat Nikhom District, Chonburi, stepped in to help a person experiencing a mental health crisis and arranged hospital care following concerns over their safety.
The incident occurred on August 15, in Moo 5, Na Wang Hin subdistrict, Phanat Nikhom. Police from Phanat Nikhom Police Station, including patrol officers and officers from Nong Hiang patrol unit, were sent to the area after receiving a report about a person behaving unusually and appearing distressed.
Officers found the person talking to themselves and appearing fearful that someone might harm them. They also reported experiencing disturbing sounds near their ears. Police intervened to ensure the person’s safety and transported them to Phanat Nikhom Hospital, where medical staff could assess the situation and determine appropriate treatment. Relatives were also contacted and informed of the situation so they could assist with ongoing care and follow medical advice.
Police said the incident highlighted their role in assisting members of the public experiencing a mental health crisis, particularly when there may be concerns about their safety or the safety of others. Officers coordinated with medical staff and the person’s family to ensure appropriate care.
