Cement and slurry blocked Pattaya’s drains — authorities fined the company and cleared the waterways immediately in preparation for the rainy season.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Authorities in Jomtien acted after cement slurry and debris flowed into public drains along Sukhumvit 93, blocking waterways and creating hazards for pedestrians and vehicles. The city’s sanitation department, municipal officers, and complaint unit imposed a 10,000 baht fine on the company and ordered immediate cleaning of the clogged drains.

Officials emphasized that dumping cement into public areas not only dirties streets but severely impacts the environment and the city’s drainage system. With the rainy season approaching, Pattaya is stepping up efforts to keep drains clear and prevent flooding. Residents expressed relief and approval online: “The drains must have been totally blocked!” one wrote. Another added, “Great, finally a fine!” while others urged continued vigilance.
