PATTAYA, Thailand – A British tourist has shared an emotional account of how he allegedly lost around 30,000 baht while resting at a fast-food restaurant in central Pattaya, saying he believes he may have been targeted after drinking only a small amount of alcohol. In a message circulated online, the tourist wrote in a fragmented and emotional style: “This is me, unlucky. I drank two beers. I suspect that a date rape drug, GHB, was put into my drink. After that, I was targeted and robbed. If anyone can help, I would be very grateful. I have reported it to the police and tourist police.”
He added that he did not want similar incidents to happen to others and hoped justice would be served. Despite the alleged incident, he also expressed continued affection for Thailand and Pattaya. “I don’t want this to happen to anyone. I hope justice is served to the bad people. I still love Thailand and Pattaya. This will not change how I feel. I will just be more careful next time. Thank you to everyone who shared and cared about safety,” he wrote.
The incident is reported to have taken place around 6:00 a.m. on June 22 at a McDonald’s branch in Soi 13/2, Pattaya Beach Road, where the tourist said he fell asleep briefly before discovering his cash missing. Police in Pattaya are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area. The case has attracted attention on social media, where unverified posts have suggested that a small group of around two to three individuals may have been involved. However, authorities have not confirmed any suspects, identities, or group involvement at this stage. Officials have urged caution over speculation while the investigation continues.
