PATTAYA, Thailand – A 45-year-old British man was injured after two men on a motorcycle allegedly followed and attacked him in Pattaya early on September 15 in an apparent attempt to steal his mobile phone. The incident was reported at 1:36 a.m. near the entrance to Jomtien Soi 15, south of Pattaya.
Pattaya rescue volunteers and police from Pattaya City Police Station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of an assault. The injured man, identified as Anand, a 45-year-old British national, was found with bruising to his body and an injury stretching from his left temple towards his ear that appeared consistent with contact with a sharp object.
Rescue workers provided first aid before taking him to a nearby hospital for treatment. A 20-year-old convenience-store employee, identified as Dujdao, told authorities that the injured man had come into the shop seeking help. According to the account he gave her, two Thai men who appeared to be intoxicated had ridden alongside him on a motorcycle before confronting him.
One of the men allegedly threatened him with a sharp weapon and demanded his belongings. The attackers then allegedly assaulted him and attempted to pull his mobile phone away. They were unable to take the phone and fled the scene on their motorcycle. Police asked the injured man to file a formal complaint and have assigned investigators to examine the case. Investigators are checking CCTV footage from the scene and surrounding routes in an effort to identify the suspects and trace their escape route. The investigation remains ongoing.
