BANGKOK, Thailand – An already viral open-air aerobics movement at Bangkok’s Lumphini Park received another boost of energy on Tuesday when a beauty queen known for her unique dance style joined as a lead instructor.

Dada, Miss Grand Kalasin and a Miss Grand Thailand 2026 contestant, took to the stage at the park’s popular “Smiley Plaza.” Her distinctive B-boy and breakdance-inspired choreography, which had already gained her a significant social media following, merged seamlessly with the park’s existing viral fitness scene.

The park’s “free dance” culture has become a social media sensation, drawing massive daily crowds of over 3,000 people. On Tuesday, the turnout was so large that latecomers spilled onto the surrounding areas to mimic the rapid, rhythmic movements led by Dada and other instructors.

“I had to see it for myself. Every time I open TikTok, it’s Lumphini Park,” said a Gen Z attendee. “I wanted to experience the hype, and it’s way more intense than I thought.”

Another participant described the vibe: “It doesn’t feel like typical aerobics. It feels more like a fast-paced K-Pop or cover dance routine. That’s why younger people love it.”

The phenomenon is celebrated not just as fitness but as a showcase of community-driven energy.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt praised the organic growth of the event. “The city provides the space, but the spirit comes entirely from the people,” he said. “It reflects the Thai identity—joyful, communal, and accessible. You don’t need a budget, just a willingness to participate. Good health isn’t for sale; you have to earn it yourself.”

The daily sessions have become a crucial outlet for many seeking mental relief in a period of high regional and domestic stress.

Aerobics at Lumphini is no longer just about burning fat for health. Stepping to the beat here allows the stress accumulated in the brain and the fatigue in the muscles, limbs, and back to flow right out of the body. Many also find a new social circle and new friends. -819 (TNA)
