BANGKOK, Thailand – Five senior officers at Huai Khwang Police Station have been transferred to the Metropolitan Police Division 1 operations center following a raid on an allegedly illegal nightclub reportedly linked to Chinese investors. The move follows a raid on 577CLUB in Soi Pracha Uthit 11, Huai Khwang, carried out by Interior Ministry officials and the Department of Provincial Administration’s Special Operations Unit. Authorities said the raid followed complaints that the venue had been operating beyond permitted hours. Checks also reportedly found that the establishment did not have a license to operate as an entertainment venue.
Investigators said evidence gathered during the operation raised questions over the club’s ownership and operation. Around 70% of customers reportedly appeared to be Chinese nationals, while payment options displayed at the cashier included WeChat and Alipay, two widely used Chinese payment platforms.
The authorities are now examining the circumstances surrounding the venue, including whether any officials failed to properly perform their duties. The transfer of the five officers does not itself establish wrongdoing, but places them outside the station while the fact-finding process is carried out.
