BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok has been named the world’s best city for nightlife in Time Out’s Best Cities for Nightlife 2026 ranking. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the capital ranked first for its diverse after-dark offerings, including rooftop and cocktail bars, nightclubs, casual venues, late-night restaurants, and its renowned street food scene.
The ranking was based on responses from more than 24,000 city residents worldwide, as well as assessments by Time Out editors and experts. Factors included quality, affordability, variety, atmosphere, sense of community, perceptions of safety, and how welcoming each city is at night. Bangkok’s LGBTQ+ community and nightlife also contribute to its inclusive and energetic nighttime atmosphere.
Bangkok ranked ahead of Berlin and New York City, placing second and third, followed by Melbourne, São Paulo, Medellín, Johannesburg, Brighton, Beijing, and Amsterdam. TAT plans to further promote Bangkok as a global nightlife destination, encouraging Thai and international travelers to experience the capital after sunset through its entertainment districts, dining, street food, city views, and diverse communities.
