PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya Provincial Prosecutors have formally indicted Australian national Simon Peter Carman over the alleged murder of a 17-year-old Thai girl whose body was found inside a suitcase dumped beside a railway line in Pattaya. The Pattaya Provincial Prosecutor’s Office filed the case at Pattaya Provincial Court on September 17 under Black Case No. Th 61/2569.
Carman faces charges including intentional murder, concealing or moving a body to conceal the death or its cause, and offences involving taking a minor aged over 15 but under 18 away from her parents or guardian for sexual purposes. The case began after the 17-year-old girl disappeared on June 25 after entering a condominium in the Jomtien area of Pattaya. Police subsequently traced her whereabouts and discovered her body inside a suitcase abandoned beside a railway line in Pattaya.
Police later located Carman at Suvarnabhumi Airport and took him into custody for questioning while investigators gathered evidence and prepared the case file for prosecutors. Following their review, Pattaya prosecutors filed the indictment with the court on September 17. The court has scheduled a hearing for Carman to enter his plea on September 18. The case remains before the court, and Carman is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty by a final judgment.
