Police believe they found a lead into one of the area’s largest motorbike-theft rings when they pulled over an 18-year-old driving a bike with no license plates.
Sadayu Thongnak, 18, was arrested May 17 after fleeing a police on Soi Nernplabwan. Officers had attempted to pull over the Yamaha Fino he was driving after noticing its missing plate.
Sadayu tries to convince the police that he didn’t steal the bike, his friend did.
The teen, caught in the woods after ditching the bike and trying to escape on foot, told police he got the Fino from a friend and was just borrowing it to shuttle his girlfriend home. Sadayu told police it was his friend that stole the motorbike from South Pattaya.
Officers, however, believe Sadayu was in on the theft and are holding him as they investigate his friends, who they believe are part of a major bike-theft ring.
