Banglamung District Chief Naris Niramaiwong, meeting with area police stations and the Chonburi Excise Office at Pattaya City Hall Dec. 7 told representatives of about 500 bars and pubs that tourism remained vital for the area and, thus, standards would be kept up for the Christmas-New Year’s period.

However, he said, appropriateness would be required for all celebrations in open areas such as live bands and others.

The district chief made particular mention of security, as thousands of tourists are expected to flock to Pattaya for the year-end festivities. He specifically called out bar owners with overzealous bouncers, saying no “rash decisions” by hired security staff would be tolerated.
