American pedestrian seriously injured in late-night crash near Central Pattaya tunnel

PATTAYA, Thailand – A foreign man was seriously injured after being struck by a car while attempting to cross a busy road near the Pattaya Central underpass in the early hours of April 2.

Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center were alerted to the incident at around 1:46 a.m., with the accident occurring on Sukhumvit Road inbound toward Bangkok, near the entrance to the Central Pattaya tunnel in Pattaya.


At the scene, a white Toyota Yaris with Bangkok registration was found with significant front-end damage and a shattered windshield. The driver, a 40-year-old Thai woman, was travelling with her Turkish partner, reportedly en route to the airport.

The injured pedestrian, identified as a 46-year-old American national, was found lying in the middle of the road with severe injuries. Rescue workers provided immediate first aid before urgently transporting him to a nearby hospital.



According to the driver, the man suddenly ran across the road in front of her vehicle, leaving little time to react. Despite attempting to brake, she was unable to avoid the collision.

Police from Pattaya City Police Station have documented the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage as part of an ongoing investigation to determine the full circumstances of the accident.
