Area police arrested a Thai man they claimed was selling drugs to Pattaya tourists.

Ruechai Bathayaso, 48, was captured in a sting operation Nov. 7 by Najomtien Sub-district police and officers from the Transnational Crime Coordination Center.

Ruechai was caught with 0.72 grams of crystal methamphetamine, which he allegedly gave to undercover officers in exchange for 5,000 baht in the Food Mart parking lot in South Pattaya. A search of the Bangkok-registered taxi he arrived in unearthed another 0.34 g. of crystal meth.

Najomtien deputy chief Pol. Col. Chidecha Songhong alleged that Ruechai would accept orders for drugs by phone from customers he met in Pattaya entertainment venues. He’d then deliver them via taxi or in person.
