Four people were injured when a speeding tractor-trailer slammed into two cars on Sukhumvit Road in Rong Poh.

Nutchira Phurod, 30, and three students from a Banglamung school, ages 10-11, were trapped in a Payao-registered Honda compact and, once rescued, sent to Banglamung Hospital for treatment. Another Honda also was damaged, but the driver was unhurt in the May 16 wreck.

Wanchai Teerawat, the 35-year-old driver of the Semt Express Thailand Co. big-rig, said he was driving at high speed from Laem Chabang Port to Rayong when he saw the light at the Rong Poh intersection was blinking yellow. He hit the brakes, but the truck skid on pavement wet from heavy rain and he lost control.
