Three more motorbikes disappeared from their owners’ homes after curfew Oct. 5.

While most people have bemoaned the 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. lockdown, criminals have rejoiced. With police failing to patrol for vehicles out late, bandits have had a field day stealing everything from expensive rides to Elephant Ear plants.

The three latest bikes all were taken from a hostel in the Tung Kard Community in Banglamung Subdistrict. The hostel owner said all were in a locked parking area. Thieves cut the lock and rode off with the motorcycles, captured only by security cameras.

Banglamung police, who earlier said they lacked the resources to prevent the crimes or even solve them, said the vehicles were tracked to high grass for storage, but by the time officers got there, they’d already been picked up.
