2 Iranians arrested on labor, immigration charges

The Iranian owner of a Pattaya coffee shop and his Iranian employee were arrested on labor law and immigration violations.

Transnational Crime Coordination Center officers raided the Paradise Restaurant & Coffee Shop on Pratamnak Hill June 5, arresting 22-year-old waiter Mehran Rostami. He was charged with working without a work permit.

Mohammad Ali Selseleh, 43, admitted to owning the coffee shop, police said. He reportedly confessed to hiring Mehran for 3,000 baht per month plus accommodations.

Police arrested him for illegally employing a foreigner without a work permit. Unable to produce his passport, officers added an immigration charge as well.
