Pattaya is telling its increasingly heavy population to skip the elevator and take the stairs to stay fit.

Deputy Mayor Poramet Ngampichet kicked off the Health Promotion Office campaign Jan. 14.

He said the city will put stickers on each step at city hall showing the number of calories burned to inspire people to lift their feet instead of taking the lift.

The goal is to get a sedentary population to exercise at least 150 minutes a week. (PCPR)
