PHUKET, Thailand – Behind Nene Royal’s historic victory on America’s Got Talent is an American man who first encountered the young musician while she was performing on the streets of Phuket.
Sean, also identified as John Elron, became a strong supporter of Nene after seeing her perform at Naka Market in Phuket. He was impressed not only by her musical ability but also by her stage presence and potential beyond her work as a street musician.
After getting to know Nene and speaking with her parents, Sean proposed submitting videos of her performances to America’s Got Talent Season 21 in 2026. He helped gather performance videos, complete the English-language application and communicate with the AGT selection team in the United States.
The application process included periods of silence before Sean eventually brought the family news that AGT had accepted Nene and invited her to audition in Los Angeles. The invitation brought an emotional reaction from Nene and her father, Narong Amloy.
Sean then continued supporting Nene through the early stages of her AGT journey, including helping with management and covering various expenses, including travel to the United States. Additional support followed after Nene’s performances attracted growing public attention. Nene, whose real name is Rattikarn Amloy, went on to win Season 21 of America’s Got Talent, becoming the first Thai contestant to win the competition.
Her journey from performing for passers-by in Phuket to taking the AGT stage has attracted widespread attention in Thailand, while Sean’s role has also become part of the story behind her international breakthrough.
