Pattaya, Thailand – Key stakeholders came together to discuss the draft master plan for the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) for the period 2023 to 2027 at the Tide Resort in Bangsaen Beach on Aug 3.

Chonburi Province Governor Thawatchai Srithong chaired the meeting which saw active participation from representatives of government agencies, private enterprises, and local communities hailing from the three provinces within the EEC—Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong. Leading the discussion was Chula Sukhamanon, Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Development Committee (EEC).

Secretary-General Chula emphasized that this public hearing on the draft master plan marked a pivotal milestone in fostering multi-stakeholder engagement. The EEC had already conducted a public hearing in mid-July, during which valuable feedback and suggestions were collected.

Drawing from this invaluable input, the EEC aims to revise and refine the EEC Phase 2 master plan, with a focus on promoting sustainable industrial development, modernizing infrastructure, prioritizing environmental sustainability, enhancing the country’s competitiveness, offering comprehensive public services, reducing operational obstacles and costs, and ensuring seamless connectivity of infrastructure systems. Moreover, it seeks to create contemporary, convenient, and safe cities to elevate the quality of life for citizens.

Secretary-General Chula reaffirmed the commitment to complete the EEC Phase 2 master plan in its entirety, presenting it for consideration to the EEC Policy Committee before submitting it to the Cabinet for approval. The comprehensive development framework for EEC Phase 2 revolves around five crucial aspects.

Representatives of government agencies, private enterprises, and local communities hailing from the three provinces within the EEC – Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong attended the public hearing.
