PATTAYA, Thailand – Jomtien Beach is set to become a regional windsurfing hub as the Thailand International Windsurfing Championships 2026 Event 2 takes place from June 17-21, bringing athletes from six countries to Pattaya. The Windsurfing Association of Thailand said competitors from Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Australia will take part in the event, which is being used as a key preparation platform for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, and the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.

Association secretary-general Phatthana Boonsawat said Thailand is fielding a full-strength squad featuring both senior and youth athletes to build international experience and assess readiness ahead of major multi-sport events. Leading the Thai team are Asian Games hopefuls including Nitipat Chaiwutthiwet in the men’s iQFoil class, Siriporn Kaewduangngam in the women’s iQFoil class, Wachirawit Thon-op in the under-19 men’s iQFoil class, and Chanatkan Charoensuk in the under-19 women’s iQFoil class.

Thai-Australian windsurfer William Macmillan will also compete in the men’s iQFoil division as part of his preparations for the 2026 World Championships in the United Kingdom in September. Meanwhile, rising Thai prospect Wannida Wintachai will race in the Techno 293 under-17 girls category as she prepares for the Youth Olympic Games. Officials say the competition is designed not only to sharpen Thailand’s leading athletes but also to give younger sailors valuable international racing experience. Nagoya, while the 2026 Youth Olympic Games will be held from October 31-November 13 in Dakar.
