PTT reported first-half net profit of 78.263 billion baht, up 74% from a year earlier, driven by upstream, refining, petrochemical and trading businesses.

BANGKOK, Thailand – PTT reported a 74% increase in net profit for the first half of 2026, reaching 78.263 billion baht, while reaffirming its ability to maintain stable energy supplies for Thailand amid continuing uncertainty in global energy markets. PTT President and Chief Executive Officer Kongkrapan Intarajang said ongoing instability in the Middle East could prolong volatility in global oil and gas prices and create risks of supply disruptions. He said PTT has prepared financial liquidity to cope with higher costs and market fluctuations, while diversifying crude oil sources and maintaining a broad network of international business partners. The company is also coordinating across the PTT Group to maintain refinery operations and help ensure sufficient domestic energy supplies.

“Energy conditions are unpredictable,” Kongkrapan said, noting that global energy markets are influenced not only by supply and demand but also by government policies and decisions by world leaders. He said PTT has adjusted its internal strategies and increased financial reserves to prepare for greater uncertainty.

PTT said its stronger first-half performance was driven mainly by PTT Exploration and Production, the petrochemical and refining businesses, and international trading operations. Net profit rose by more than 33 billion baht compared with the same period last year. The company said its strategy remains focused on strengthening competitiveness and Thailand’s energy security, including increasing domestic gas production to meet demand and expanding selected investments overseas.

PTT is also accelerating its liquefied natural gas portfolio expansion. The company aims to increase its LNG portfolio to 3.7 million tons in 2026, 10 million tons by 2030 and 15 million tons by 2035.

PTT President and CEO Kongkrapan Intarajang says the company is prepared to manage global energy volatility and maintain stable supplies for Thailand.

Kongkrapan said natural gas is expected to remain important in maintaining energy-system stability while Thailand and other countries transition toward cleaner energy. PTT will focus investment on areas where the group has expertise, including infrastructure and upstream exploration and production through PTTEP. However, PTT plans to be more selective about investments in new manufacturing facilities. Such projects can take three to four years to develop, while trade tensions could alter market conditions by the time facilities are completed, creating potential risks for product sales.

PTT is also monitoring government policies, particularly proposals to reduce refining margins to ease the burden on consumers. Kongkrapan acknowledged that such measures could affect decisions by foreign investors and said PTT would continue discussions with the government about potential impacts on business and investment. The company also plans to communicate with foreign investors to help them understand Thailand’s policy and business environment. Despite continuing geopolitical and market uncertainty, PTT said its financial position, diversified supply sources and international partnerships provide a foundation for maintaining energy supplies while pursuing longer-term growth.

PTT plans to expand its LNG portfolio to 15 million tons by 2035, citing natural gas’s continued role in supporting energy-system stability.

PTT relies on global business partnerships and diversified crude oil sources to maintain steady energy supplies amid heightened market uncertainty.
