PATTAYA, Thailand – Thailand’s Meteorological Department has warned of scorching heat in Pattaya and Bangkok while heavy rains hit the north, northeast, east, and western southern coasts due to lingering monsoon conditions. Residents in Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, and Phang Nga are advised to watch for flash floods and sudden water surges, particularly in low-lying and hilly areas.

The department said a monsoon trough stretches across the upper north into low-pressure systems over Laos and northern Vietnam, combined with a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Moderate seas are expected in the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf, with waves up to 2 meters, and over 2 meters in stormy areas. Mariners are urged to exercise caution and avoid travel in heavy storms.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Podul has made landfall on China’s eastern coast and is expected to weaken into a depression and then a low-pressure system. The storm is not expected to enter Thailand, but travelers in affected regions are advised to check weather conditions.

Bangkok and surrounding areas face 60% rainfall coverage, with temperatures ranging from 26–27°C in the early morning to 34–36°C in the afternoon, while Pattaya continues to endure sweltering heat despite the approaching rains.
