Pattaya Beach begins to fill with foreign visitors as the city prepares for its busiest tourism period from November through February.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya is beginning to see early signs of the high season, with foreign tourists from long-haul markets gradually returning to the city and more visitors heading to the beach to sunbathe and enjoy seaside activities.

A Pattaya Mail survey on October 1 found more foreign tourists relaxing along Pattaya Beach, including visitors using beach umbrellas and chairs, boats and other marine activities. The increase comes during the transition from the rainy season to cooler months, with the peak high season expected from November through February.

The changing tourism atmosphere comes as Thailand continues to face broader economic challenges. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas said economic growth has slowed from previous levels and that even 3% growth remains difficult to achieve, citing insufficient investment, ageing production facilities and machinery, and an ageing population. Ekniti proposed a “repair, reinforce and create” approach focused on developing people, technology, innovation and new industries to improve productivity and Thailand’s competitiveness.

Pattaya City is also looking to tourism and major events as important drivers of local economic activity. At a Pattaya City Council meeting, officials discussed tourism promotion activities and roadshows planned for 2027, while preparing a series of major events for the end of this year.

The program includes the Pattaya Jazz Festival, International Fireworks Festival, Tomorrowland and Pattaya Countdown. The International Fireworks Festival is expected to attract 389,860 visitors and generate around 2.035 billion baht in economic activity, while Pattaya Countdown is projected to draw 393,060 visitors and generate about 5.7 billion baht.

The return of more visitors to Pattaya’s beachfront, combined with the city’s major event calendar, signals the beginning of the busier tourism period, with the strongest high-season activity expected in the coming months.
