Heavy holiday traffic builds up on routes into Chonburi, Pattaya and Sattahip, with motorists reporting long queues on the Burapha Withi Expressway and Motorway 7 during the October 23–25 long weekend.

CHONBURI, Thailand – Motorists heading towards Chonburi, Pattaya and Sattahip faced heavy congestion on Friday, October 23, as holiday traffic built up on major routes into Thailand’s eastern seaboard. A Facebook post by Nong Mai Daeng Accident and News, Chonburi, on Friday afternoon reported severe delays on the Burapha Withi Expressway towards Chonburi, with congestion occurring beyond the toll plaza where three lanes narrowed to one because of roadworks.

The post also described heavy traffic on the inbound motorway towards Chonburi, while queues on Motorway 7 (M7) reportedly stretched for around 18 kilometres. One motorist said the journey had already taken more than an hour. The congestion comes at the start of Thailand’s three-day holiday from October 23–25, when many people travel to Pattaya, Sattahip and other destinations along the eastern coast. Motorists were advised to allow extra time, check traffic conditions before departure and remain patient around roadwork areas where lane reductions are causing bottlenecks.
