Transnational stock scheme gang arrested

Bangkok – The DSI has arrested a transnational gang accused of tricking people into investing in stock market schemes and causing more than 1.7 billion baht in damages.

Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang, the DSI chief, announced Saturday the result of the arrest of the gang which was composed of both Thais and foreigners after the DSI received complaints from about 1,000 victims.

The accused and their team deceived victims into making investments on foreign stock markets and promising returns of up to 20% per month for the investors depending on their package.  Investors were told that they could withdraw their returns and principal at any time.

The Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for eight foreigners and two Thai people, and the DSI searched eight locations in Bangkok and other provinces.  Related evidence was found and will be used to extend the case against the gang members.
