Mukdaharn – The Rajaprajanugroh Foundation has continued passing out royally bestowed blankets to people contending with cold weather as temperatures look set to drop another 1-3 degrees Celsius in upper and central Thailand.

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, concerned for the health of people experiencing cold weather, tasked ACM Yothin Prayoonpokaraj and members of the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under Royal Patronage to supply blankets to residents of Mukdaharn province. They gave out the blankets in two districts where over 70,000 citizens reside.

His Majesty also bestowed meals upon those receiving the blankets, including snacks for young children. The gesture evoked overwhelming appreciation from all in attendance.

Cold weather is set to remain for this period with lows in Kalasin province forecast at only 9 degrees Celsius. The plummeting temperatures have prompted many local residents to light bonfires and for schools to impose 10 minutes of morning exercise to warm students up. Drivers in the province of Nan have been urged to be wary at this time as cool weather has resulted in thick fog limiting visibility on roads. In Chiang Rai province, residents have been picking up warm clothing and gathering around fires to stay warm.

The Meteorological Department has said that a new high pressure front from China will cover upper Thailand extending down to Bangkok and shaving another 1-3 degrees Celsius from current temperatures from now to December 22.
