Pattaya’s new mayor pledged to work more closely with community groups to solve the city’s problems.

Sonthaya Kunplome and his deputies met Oct. 8 with Orawan Sukananwong, president of the Pattaya Communities Association, and representatives from the city’s 44 neighborhoods.

Sonthaya pledged that his administration would work together with communities and asked community leaders to take care of quality of life issues to help residents.

Communities, he said, are considered key to sustainably and correctly developing Pattaya by solving problems together. Communities know more about the problems facing Pattaya residents and their suggestions in solving them are essential.

Sonthaya acknowledged that water and flooding issues are high priorities and said the city is working on long-term solutions.
