Thai Deputy PM orders for backup plan to reserve more water during rainy season

Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Government Spokesperson, disclosed that Deputy Prime Minister Gen. PrawitWongsuwon has ordered for the backup plan to reserve more water during the rainy season, as there has been raining in several areas across the country during the past week, as a result of which 423 million cubic meters of water have been added to the country’s major dams. The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), in particular, has received additional water budget of approximately 18 million cubic meters. The Deputy Prime Minister also ordered to set aside 37 million cubic meters of reserved water for industrial use to boost the industrial sector’s confidence if no more rainwater has been added.



The Deputy Prime Minister, as head of the National Water Command Center, also disclosed that Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, the Royal Irrigation Department, Marine Department, Department of Provincial Administration, and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration have managed to get rid of over 1.4 million of water hyacinths during October 1, 2019- April 17, 2020. (Thaigov.go.th)
