Thailand remains largest rice exporter to Hong Kong

The Minister of Commerce disclosed that Thailand remains the largest rice exporter to Hong Kong, advising entrepreneurs to expand their customer base and produce new rice products to add value to the products in response to the decrease in rice consumption among the new generation.

Commerce Minister Abhiradee Tantraporn disclosed that during this year’s first four months Thailand remained the largest rice exporter to Hong Kong, with an export ratio of 59.5 percent.

It is expected that by the end of this year, Thailand will export more rice to Hong Kong to a ratio of 60-65 percent, valued at 65-70 percent. This will definitely enable Thailand to reach the export target of 9.5 million tons to Hong Kong, says the Commerce Minister.
