The Thai National Shippers’ Council president Nopporn Thepsittha believes the martial law imposed by the army nationwide, will benefit Thailand’s economy rather than have any negative effect.

The martial law imposed at 03:00 a.m. Tuesday, aims to prevent violence so it will have a positive impact on the Thai economy, as manufacturing and logistics won’t be affected. Everything is running as smoothly as usual, Mr. Nopporn said.

Meanwhile, the Council will carry out plans to cope with any incidents that may arise and is calling on its members to assess any impact and propose solutions.

He is convinced that the dispute won’t lead to a coup d’etat as the army has announced that it’s not involved in political issues. In addition, a coup would not resolve the current political turmoil.
