BANGKOK, 27 September 2013 The Ministry of Industry has asserted that the 5 major industrial estates in the central part of Thailand will not be flooded.

Industry Minister Prasert Boonchaisuk has visited Saha Rattana Nakorn Industrial Park in Nakhon Luang district of Ayutthaya to follow up on flood prevention measures. The minister expressed his confidence that the 5 industrial parks in the two central provinces, namely Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani, will not be inundated this year as strict measures have been prepared to cope with emergency cases.

As for the Saha Rattana Nakorn Industrial Park, Minister Prasert said temporary flood barriers were being erected in case of heavy flooding, adding that the construction is now 30 percent completed. He added that Saha Rattana Nakorn Park will not encounter flood similar to the one in 2011.

The minister went on to express his worries about an industrial park in Prachinburi Province as the province has seen a rising level of water recently. As a result, he has ordered the Department of Industrial Works to visit the area and closely monitor the situation.
