Parliament holds seminar to gear up for ASEAN Community


BANGKOK, 16 July 2012  – Parliament has organized the “Thai Parliament towards the ASEAN Community” seminar with an aim to prepare Thai MPs, senators and parliamentary staff for the regional integration in 2015. 

Parliament President Somsak Kiatsuranont today presided over the opening ceremony of a seminar entitled “Thai Parliament towards the ASEAN Community” at Impact Muang Thong Thani, with the participation of MPs, senators, and government officials who are involved in ASEAN matters. The discussion regarded the construction of the new parliament building and Thailand’s preparation for the ASEAN Community.

In addition to the seminar, there were also football matches and tug of war competitions between the MPs and press members, and between officials from the Secretariat of the House of Representatives and the Secretariat of the Senate.

There were many other recreational activities held for all the attendants, with an objective to create a mutual understanding regarding the roles of each unit and benefits of their cooperation.
