BANGKOK, 16 April 2014 – The Kasikorn Research Center has predicted that this week’s baht would trade in the range of 32.15 – 32.45 baht per dollar.

The center said last week the baht and other Asian currencies have gained strength, thanks to the rising foreign capital inflow, the weakening of the U.S. dollar after the Federal Reserve Board has yet to decide if it would adjust the benchmark rate next year.

It pointed out the baht slid down slightly before the weekend, a sign of position adjustments by investors before the long holiday took place. The baht settled at 32.26 baht a dollar before the weekend, a small display of strength compared to the 32.52 baht per dollar of the earlier week.

According to the KReasearch, this week’s key driving factors are the local political turnout, while the U.S. noteworthy numbers are the New York Federal Reserve’s Production Index survey figure, Retail Sales Index figure, Industrial Production figures, last month’s Real Estate related figures, and the weekly unemployment rate.

The center also said China’s Q1 GDP figure might post some influence as well.
