Regional transportation officials inspected baht buses and motorcycle taxis on Koh Larn and warned them to follow the law for Loy Krathong.
Kanit Jierujeekul, director of Chonburi’s Land Transport Department, joined Pattaya and Tourist police and soldiers in the Nov. 6 operation.
Officials told the Ban Koh Lan Bus Cooperative Ltd. that drivers of its 33 vehicles must stay within the speed limit and prevent passengers from hanging off the back of the pickup trucks.
Motorcycle taxi drivers were warned to ensure both they and their passengers wore helmets. They also must charge only the legally mandated rates.
Police threatened maximum penalties for anyone caught cheating tourists.
