AYUTTHAYA, 20 August 2014 – The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) in Ayutthaya province has declared that food stall vendors would no longer be allowed to set up their stands around the Phra Mongkol Bophit Temple compound.

Colonel Ronnawut Ruangsawat, the Deputy Director of the ISOC in Ayutthaya province, announced that more than 300 food shops that have illegally occupied the temple’s existing space would be asked to move out of the area.

The decision was made by the ruling military government in a bid to enhance the temple’s surroundings as well as improve the flow of traffic and reduce congestion within the area.

Food stall vendors will instead to be asked to relocate their shops at a newly designated space right at the province’s Old City Hall. The entire process would take approximately two months.
