BANGKOK, 20 November 2014 – Thai commercial attachés will lead almost 200 buyers and importers from all over the world to Thailand this December to buy Thai products. The trip is expected to help stimulate Thai exports at the end of the year.

Commerce Minister Gen. Chatchai Sarikalya said the 200 buyers and importers were from many countries including the U.S., the European Union, Latin America, ASEAN, Japan, China and Korea. The first group of them would arrive in Thailand on 1 December and the last one 10 December this year. Those from Europe were interested in Thai processed food products, beverages, jewelry and refrigerator parts, said the minister.

Meanwhile, a Chinese company has signed a contract with the Talat Thai market to buy longan of 10,000 containers worth 10 billion baht. The minister said he believed that the purchase would hike longan price in the market and prevent oversupply.

The ministry has set an export growth rate target for 2015 at 4%.
