More than 20 alleged victims gather at Bo Win Police Station to file complaints over losses exceeding 10 million baht in a suspected chit fund fraud.

CHONBURI, Thailand – More than 20 people filed complaints at Bo Win Police Station in Sri Racha district, Chonburi, on October 31, accusing a 41-year-old woman who ran informal savings and rotating credit groups of cheating members out of more than 10 million baht.

The woman, identified as Nareerat, whose surname was withheld, allegedly operated more than 400 separate groups offering different saving and payment schedules, including daily, three-day, seven-day, 10-day and monthly arrangements. More than 100 people in Chonburi and neighboring areas are believed to have suffered losses, with further complaints expected.

Kim Hok, 68, who led the group of complainants, said he had invested more than 800,000 baht but had not received interest payments for several months. He became concerned when he could no longer contact the organizer and heard from other participants that they had also lost money.

He said members had initially received their payments, but transfers became increasingly irregular before stopping altogether. The organizer was then reportedly found to have left the area and could no longer be contacted.

The complainants went to police seeking legal action and hoping to recover their savings.

Police said they would initially issue two summonses requiring the woman to report for questioning. If she failed to appear, officers would proceed with an arrest warrant.
