The Pattaya Hilton will celebrate Oktoberfest for two nights next month with authentic beer, sausages and music.

Hilton Business Development Director Peta Ruiter announced the Oct. 23-24 event at a Sept. 6 press conference and beer-drinking contest.  The Pattaya Mail’s own Montree Kotchawong won mugs down and was awarded an original beer stein from Munich’s 200th Oktoberfest, yet still somehow managed to go back to work.

Next month’s 6:30 p.m. parties will unfold in the Hilton ballroom and feature original Paulaner Oktoberfest and white beers at 220 baht per 500 ml stein.  Other domestic and imported beer will also be available, as well as a selection of authentic German schnapps.

Food and Beverage Manager Simon Bender has prepared a genuine menu of sausages, fresh pork hock, assorted cold cuts and roast meats from German butcher Karl Otto of Hua Hin.  Other specialties to be offered include cheese spaetzle, Obatzter cheese, a variety of typical Bavarian salads, red berry compote, sauerkraut and apple strudel.

In addition, the German-Austrian music band Anton & the Funny Guys will perform classic Oktoberfest music as guests participate in traditional nail hammering, beer-drinking, and saw contests.

Admission tickets will be 1,100 baht per person and include food, water and soft drinks.
