Anutin says Thailand has sufficient food supplies and backup energy plans, while embassies monitor Middle East tensions and prepare evacuation arrangements for Thai nationals.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has reassured the public that Thailand has sufficient food resources and energy contingency plans to address potential disruptions from international tensions. The remarks follow advisories from several countries recommending 72-hour emergency food supplies in case of military operations or cyberattacks.

Urging Thai citizens to remain alert without becoming alarmed, Anutin said Thailand’s agricultural production and raw materials are sufficient to meet domestic food needs. The government is also monitoring tensions between the United States and Iran amid concerns over rising global energy prices, and is preparing alternative energy supplies if necessary.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow confirmed that Thai embassies are maintaining contact with nationals overseas and preparing assistance and safety advisories. The Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, especially in areas facing heightened security risks.

The ministry has also coordinated with the Royal Thai Armed Forces to review evacuation plans for Thai nationals in potentially affected areas. Authorities are prepared to relocate citizens if conditions deteriorate, and they encourage those overseas to follow official embassy announcements. (NNT)
