Rescuers carefully recover the body of a 35-year-old electrical contractor who died in a suspected electrocution while working above a house ceiling in Nongprue.

PATTAYA, Thailand – A 35-year-old electrical contractor died after apparently being electrocuted while installing a new electrical system inside a house in Banglamung district, on October 29. Police from Nongprue Police Station were alerted to the incident at a single-storey house in Nongprue, and coordinated with rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Pattaya.

The victim, identified as Chanaphon Saburam, was found beneath the roof above the ceiling, with marks consistent with an electric shock. Rescuers worked carefully to bring his body down from the confined space. The homeowner told authorities that the electrician had been hired to install a new electrical system in the house. While the man was working above the ceiling, the homeowner heard unusual noises that sounded like someone struggling and immediately called for help. However, the electrician was already dead when assistance arrived.

Police initially suspected that the electrician may have touched a main power cable that had not been disconnected while working above the ceiling. Authorities will investigate the circumstances further. The body was taken to Pattaya Bhattamakhun Hospital for an autopsy before arrangements are made for the family to collect it for religious rites.
