A pickup truck overturned beside Sukhumvit Road in Trat after losing control on a wet surface, rupturing a water main and disrupting supplies to five subdistricts.

TRAT, Thailand – A pickup truck overturned and smashed into a water supply pipeline in Trat on October 29, leaving residents in five subdistricts facing a temporary water outage while repair crews worked to restore service.

The accident occurred at about 4pm on Sukhumvit Road near the bridge over the Trat River in Wang Krachae subdistrict, Mueang Trat district. The white Isuzu pickup overturned into a roadside drainage channel after losing control on the wet road, damaging a Provincial Waterworks Authority pipeline and sending large amounts of water into the river.

The 34-year-old driver, identified as Anuphong, suffered minor injuries and chest discomfort. He told police that rain had made the road slippery. When a vehicle ahead slowed to make a U-turn at a prohibited location near the Trat Provincial Court intersection, he swerved and accelerated to overtake. The pickup then began to skid, veered off the road and overturned into the pipeline.

Trat Provincial Waterworks Authority staff rushed to the scene, shut off the water valves and began repairing the damaged pipe.

The authority announced a temporary water supply interruption affecting five subdistricts: Noen Sai, Tha Phrik, Chamrak, Takang and Laem Klat. Residents were advised to store water for drinking and household use while repairs continued. Repair work was expected to finish by 3am on October 30, allowing normal water services to resume.
