BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai Airways International has advised passengers to check their flight status ahead of travel as Typhoon Champi approaches Taiwan and southern Japan. The flag carrier said its services to and from Taipei and Kaohsiung could be affected between Oct. 22 and Oct. 24 due to severe weather. Passengers were urged to verify updates via its website or mobile application.

Meanwhile, budget carrier Thai Lion Air announced the cancellation of several flights scheduled for Oct. 22 and Oct. 23 on routes connecting Bangkok, Taiwan, Japan, and Okinawa due to the storm’s trajectory. Although forecasters expect the system to weaken before making landfall, heavy rain, strong winds, and high seas are anticipated through Friday and Saturday. (TNA)
